Though it’s been on the market for a few months now, Aqara has made their popular G2H Smart Gateway Camera with HomeKit Secure Video available on their U.S. Amazon store.

The Aqara HomeKit camera has a ton of features and we went through many of them in our review of it, but here are the bullet points:

• maximum 1080p resolution streaming and recordin
• 140° field of view
• infrared for motion detection and night vision
• two-way audio
• up to 32 GB micro SD local storageZ
• Zigbee 3.0 hub
• HomeKit Secure Video

Previously in order to get the most out of the mainland China version of the G2H, you had to be connected to the mainland China server.  In fact, you would get only the HSV functions of the GH2 when connected to a different server using HomeKit mode.  Now, the U.S. version of the G2H can connect directly to the U.S. server for full functionality through the Aqara app.

Unfortunately, there is no firmware update to “internationalize” the Chinese version of the G2H to be able to bind it to the U.S. server.  I have reached out to Aqara about this and I am told that this is a hardware matter therefore the Chinese version will not be able to work with the U.S. servers.

Finally, as Aqara tends to do, they are offering a pretty stellar 25% discount on the G2H when entering code AQARAG2H at checkout.
