With much speculation and anticipation, it appears that smart home manufacturer VOCOlinc are gearing up to launch their HomeKit-compatible PureFlow Air Purifier come June 15.
Initially being teased through an email blast and later going on pre-sale in Europe, VOCOlinc subtly announced via Facebook that their new PureFlow air purifier would be available in the US starting June 15.
Simon from HomeKit News managed to track down some details on the smart WiFi connected air cleaner which is said to be suitable for spaces up to 700 square feet, 30 square meters. Other notable specs include:
- Large 5.1” LED screen with adaptive auto-brightness functionality, that displays real-time information on the state of both the air quality in your home and the VAP1 itself.
- Smart Air Quality Indicator: Four colour LED to reflect air quality
- [removes] PM2.5, VOCs, Formaldehyde, Benzenes, Smoke, general Odours, Allergens, Dust, Mould, Bacteria, Pet Dander, and Pollen.
- Smart Filter Life Notification: on-screen display and in-app prompt to remind you to replace the filter
- Built-in temperature and humidity sensors
- 3 operating modes: Auto/Sleep/Manual
- 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity
While the device has a number of hardware features that will allow it to be used independent of an app, its smart functionality will allow for scheduling and automations using the LinkWise app and HomeKit, as well as control via Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Though specifics on what will be exposed to HomeKit are unclear as of the writing of this article, I think we can safely assume that PureFlow’s power mode will be exposed to Home Kit and likely the temperature and humidity sensors also. If we’re lucky, we’ll have control over the purifier’s fan speed through HomeKit. If we’re even luckier, we’ll have access to the 3 operating modes, but this is likely a feature that will be reserved for the LinkWise app.
VOCOlinc coyly teased the VAP1 last year via an email asking customers to choose between black and white color variants. Though press photos do show a black model, the most recent images circulating and pre-order suggest that the white color option was the preferred version.
Pricing for the PureFlow Air Purifier in the U.S. has yet to be confirmed but based on pre-order pricing and a briefly unveiled Best Buy Canada product page, we can expect the VAP1 to come in at around $500 at its time of launch.
